To the editor:

This letter is written to voice our support for David Goncher for Cape Girardeau School Board. Goncher has the following qualifications that to us are fitting for a school board member:

1. Goncher has a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Southeast Missouri State University plus 30 hours toward a degree in secondary school administration.

2. Goncher taught in junior and senior high schools from 1976 to 1982 in both the Sikeston and Cape Girardeau public school systems.

3. Goncher has children in the Cape public schools and will continue to have a child in our system for the next six years.

4. Goncher has been and is actively involved in our community as a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and advisory board member to the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, a member of the Noon Optimist Club and of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

5. Goncher is highly successful in his career field in the insurance industry.

We have known David for many years, and this is not his first bid for the school board. He continues to pursue this goal because his interest in our public schools is genuine and certain. This is evidenced by his becoming a member of the public school education curriculum study committee and chairman of the extracurricular affairs subcommittee.

We want to share these facts about David so that voters can see that he has much to offer our school system. We have excellent representation on our current school board, and we would like to add David's voice at these meetings. We hope that voters will support him on the April ballot.
