To the editor:
I would like to respond to two recent Speak Out comments.
The first was "No religion in schools." While it is true that religion as such is not to be taught in our public schools, it is also true that the 10 Commandments are the basic rule for all law and conduct. They were given by god through Moses not only for the nation of Israel and subsequently for Christianity, but as the divine rule of conduct for all mankind. It's a transgression of law in all civilized nations to murder, commit adultery, steal, give false testimony and so forth. Should not this divine rule for all civil conduct be posted in our public schools?
In regard to no Nativity scenes in public, need I remind you that our years are numbered B.C. and A.D. in all world history. The greatest blessings to our nation have come through Christianity. I refer you to the book, "Faith of our Founding Fathers," by Tim LaHaye.
The other comment was "isn't this murder too?" What has a newborn baby done to deserve death? It's a separate life under protection of God's law and the U.S. Constitution. By contrast, a murderer deserves to be executed. Scripture states very clearly, "Whosoever sheds man's blood by man shall his blood be shed." In the case of war, there is such a thing as a righteous war. One example is the United States defending itself against the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Think it over.
