To the editor:
Whereas we recognize quality public education as an essential component in the success of any community, and whereas the Cape Girardeau Board of Education commissioned a master planning committee in 1996, and whereas this committee used community and educator input to develop a multiphase master plan to assure continued quality education and an improved educational environment and presented this plan to voters in April 1997, and whereas the voters overwhelmingly approved this plan with Phase I beginning at that time and being substantially complete, and whereas the overall success of the plan requires Phase II to begin with a vote of the people, and whereas we believe, together with the Board of Education, this plan is still an excellent way to assure its original purposes, therefore, be it resolved the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors endorses Phase II of the master plan.
