I won. When I say the report on TV of the robbery where the robbers absconded with their loot of three rings and the local merchant fired his shotgun in the air trying to stop them, I told my wife, "I'll bet the Cape Girardeau Police Department will try and figure out a way to charge the store owner.

Sure enough, on the news the officer says, "We are trying to see if the person who fired the shotgun should be charged."

If you run from a police officer for whatever reason and he shoots you dead in the back, that's OK, because it falls within department policy.

Pity the Cape Girardean who shoots a rapist or robber while protecting his family or property.

What a chance for the prosecuting attorney to put ribbons in his showcase.
