To the editor:
I am a very angry person. This nation has been put through a long campaign to select its leadership. George W. Bush was elected by the U.S. Supreme Court. I'm angry at the way in which Republicans tried every way possible to stop any accurate vote count in Florida and the way in which hundreds of black citizens of Florida were not allowed to vote. Many found their names had disappeared from voting lists.
This was obvious good-old-boy manipulation by Florida's politicians, such as Gov. Jeb Bush, Bush's brother, and the Florida secretary of state, who certifies election results and was Bush's campaign manager in Florida. The Florida Legislature, the state's executive branch and the courts of Florida are capable of dealing with elections.
I do not honor or respect a politician whose win came by such corruption of the election and political processes. No amount of smooth speeches by Bush can erase the divisions in this nation and the reservoir of anger.
