I'm writing to express my outrage at the recent decision of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to let Eminem perform his hate music on national television. While Eminem has a right to make such music, the academy's decision to recognize his work with four award nominations and to turn the Oscars award ceremony into a platform for hate and violence is reprehensible.

Unless the academy reverses its decision, my family will not be watching the Academy Awards show this year. I will tell my friends not to watch either. Though my family won't be watching, I urge the academy to act responsibly toward those that are. Do not let Eminem's message of hate and violence go unchecked on national television. I ask the academy to please run public service announcements about domestic violence and to tell people where to call for help.

Every day in this country, at least three women are murdered and some 3,500 are terrorized by the men in their lives. To commend Eminem's hateful music sanctions abuse and ignores the very real terror and anguish of families throughout this nation.
