I thank House Speaker Rod Jetton for the e-mail and timeline fact sheet regarding the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus project.

I felt it necessary to respond promptly, as this is a most important project for the university, Cape Girardeau and the Southeast Missouri region.

Jetton highlighted in his letter "Fixing the problem." That is an important statement. We can't unwind and change the past, but we can change and influence the future. By we, I mean university president Ken Dobbins, Mayor Jay Knudtson, state Sen. Jason Crowell and Jetton. It should not be solved via resignations or on the backs of future Southeast students.

No matter the past, our city, university, university foundation and many of our citizens have a lot of blood, sweat, tears and money in this project. The project is well underway and needs to be completed in a timely manner.

As a concerned citizen, I am asking for Jetton's support in mediating a way to fix the problem.
