As a commissioner, Sander was frugal with taxpayer dollars and committed to improving county roads and bridges. Sander will also be remembered for his gentle and reserved ways. He got things done without raising his voice. He rarely took credit and always went out of his way to lend a helping hand.

Cape Girardeau County is a better place today thanks to the contributions of Leonard Sander. His legacy will live on in his good works and family's continued commitment to public service.
