There is a powerful, and this time expensive, lesson to be learned: It simply doesn't matter what the people want. We no longer have a democratic process in this state. We don't need a legislature. I know there was opposition to this latest conceal-carry law. I also know there is a process to be followed which has been violated by special-interest groups. Why bother to pass laws if the courts are going to overturn them? All we wanted to do was to protect ourselves and our families from people who are not following the law.

This liberal judge has said two things loud and clear: It is OK for honest citizens to be robbed and murdered because we don't trust them to protect themselves, and if you want to carry a firearm to protect yourself and your family, you are a criminal.

Where were our politicians' minds? Did they not read the constitution before they passed this law?

All in all, it is a sad day in this state, and things are only going to get worse before they ever get better. I hope our legislators don't roll over and play dead on this. There needs to be a line drawn somewhere -- somewhere south of St. Louis.
