The road to the Semoball Awards continued Wednesday as the keynote speaker for the 2nd annual show was announced at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau.

Olympic softball player Jennie Finch will speak in Cape Girardeau on July 11 at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus as the Semoball Awards recognizes many of the best high school athletes from the area.

Finch is impressive and has a great story.

In college she earned the NCAA record with the most consecutive wins. She was on the 2004 gold-medal Olympic softball team for the U.S. and the 2008 team that earned a silver medal. She's a member of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. She's been recognized with other honors and awards, too.

Today she is a mother of three, married to former professional baseball player Casey Daigle, holds softball camps and is a softball broadcaster on ESPN. She is the author of "Throw Like a Girl: How to Dream Big and Believe in Yourself."
