Jackson supports school activities

To the editor:

I want to sincerely thank the Jackson Board of Aldermen for the huge support it provides to the athletic programs of the Jackson School District. The city provides the playing field for boys' baseball. It provides the playing field for girls' softball. It provides the park facility for cross-country meets. It provides the tennis courts for the tennis program.

The city's commitment is especially commendable when you consider nearly 40 percent of the children in the Jackson School District do not live within the city limits of Jackson. These free facilities benefit children from all over Cape Girardeau County. The kind of commitment our aldermen are making to the students is one of the many things that makes this community great.
