Speaking of a well-run Jackson ... .
Jackson's firefighters are to be applauded as they finish up a remodeling project that will move the fire department's administrative offices from their current location at Hope Street and East Jackson Boulevard to a building next door to the fire station.
Firefighters have been working in the building whenever they can find time between calls and training for the past year. The building will also provide the fire department with an emergency operations center and its own training room.
The work will also free up space at the police department, meaning it will gain two offices and have its own training room.
The remodeling project cost the city $22,000, but it would no doubt have cost much more if the work had to be contracted out.
Through hard work and cooperation, the Jackson Fire Department solved a problem. The firefighters should get a pat on the back.
