That is pretty much the way the city of Jackson arrived at its decision to explore the possibility of a sister-city relationship with the oldest city in Denmark, Ribe.

It started when a Dane and new Jackson resident, Henning Bollerslev, struck up an acquaintance with Dutch Meyer at Fruitland Dressed Meats. Then Bollerslev was instrumental is creating a relationship between Southeast Missouri State University and Ribe Handelskool.

Now the Jackson Board of Aldermen has put its stamp of approval of taking steps toward ties with the Danish city.

Good friends are important in many ways, and Jackson is sure to benefit from its warm friendship with Ribe.
