Memorial Day has passed but the patriotic feeling it inspires should remain with Americans. I am a proud American and remember the Pledge of Allegiance I recited in my youth.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Our country is in trying times. The economy is a shambles, our countrymen have seen the destruction of their property from massive storms and our military personnel, young and old, male and female, are in harm's way overseas.

I didn't vote for Barack Hussein Obama, and I am completely dismayed at our Congress. However, we are the United States of America, one nation, under God, indivisible, and this country has served and always will serve liberty and justice for all who reside within her shores.

I will pray for our president and Congress. I will support them even if I do not support their ideas for this is the greatest country of all and they deserve our prayers.
