To the editor: In reply to the comments from Phil Penzel, Diversion Channel bridge builder, about people not having the right to criticize the delayed completion of the bridge, I say, "Nonsense." He stated that two floods had caused delays. Well, guess what. It floods in that area every year. For the contractor not to plan for floods is quite irresponsible. Do not insult the public's intelligence with this excuse...

Another problem with the bridge construction is the new northbound exit ramp onto Nash Road. When there is a heavy rain, the exit ramp becomes covered with water. This can be a very unsafe situation that should have been taken into consideration during the planning stage.

Missouri is spending $10.6 million of hard-earned tax dollars on this project. It's no wonder Missouri taxpayers are fed up.
