Guard member doesn't deserve nasty remarks

To the editor:

This letter is a response to Tom Zieske's letter about the business owner who is being called to active duty after 31 years in the National Guard.

I don't know the businessman, but I don't think he deserved the nasty remarks. When you have your own business and have to be away from it for 18 months, anyone knows you will be worried about losing customers.

The National Guard is to protect our nation and expects to be called up during floods, riots or other homeland disasters. Now our small Army is spread so thin the Guard is being called to build back a foreign nation. Who is left to protect our country?

Zieske owes all National Guard members an apology.
