Gorbachev puts blame on the U.S.

To the editor:This writer has been an admirer of Mikhail Gorbachev since he less the USSR surrender to the U.S. in the decades-old Cold War. He was certainly deserving of the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize and will be remembered as one of the world's great leaders of the 20th century.

He has now joined the chorus of world leaders in condemnation of the Bush administration and policies. According to a recent Associated Press article by Alex Nicholson, "Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev laid the blame for the current low in Russia's relations with the West squarely on Washington on Friday, accusing the United States of making major mistakes that had thrown the world into a period of 'global disarray.'"

Not only has President Bush become the most unpopular and incompetent leader in American history by precipitating and fighting in the Iraqi civil war, it appears he is on the precipice of inciting the second great Cold War.

What must Americans do, and what must the leaders of the world do, to get this president squared away? You tell me.
