The community is responding. Earlier this month, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau donated more than 14,000 items to the Cape Girardeau food banks. Monday, students at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center sent more than 2,300 cans of food to the Red Star food pantry. Other donations may be smaller in scale but are just as appreciated.
