GILBERT LEIMER VOLUNTEERS TO HELP BECAUSE IT MAKES HIM FEEL GOOD -- WE'RE PROUD OF HIM

Gilbert Leimer is an example of someone making a difference in the community.

Leimer volunteers his time and energies with the Jackson Senior Center and food pantry. Leimer was the local winner of the USA Weekend Make a Difference Day award.

In his garden last year, Leimer raised more than 1,000 pounds of vegetables to give to the needy. His recognition resulted in a check for the local food pantry and a pat on the back.

But that's not why Leimer does his kind deeds. His contributions to the senior center and food pantry started years ago. He does it for the good feeling he gets from helping others.
