When it looked like there wasn't much interest in the event last year, many organizations and people came forth to help put together the celebration. It proved a success, and as a result the posts with help from the Eagles are in the process of putting together this year's celebration for July 3 and 4. It will feature a parade, picnic and fireworks.

The Fourth of July wouldn't be same in Cape Girardeau without the event and the grand display of fireworks that typically is the big attraction. The city owes its thanks to all who are responsible for helping assure that the event continues.
