Flag deserves honor

Watching the news I see where Missouri State Senator Jamilah Nasheed has jumped on the Colin Kaepernick bandwagon and sat during the Pledge of Allegiance. Nasheed is a St. Louis Democrat and one of many athletes, politicians and even school-age youngsters to disrespect America's symbols of freedom and patriotism.

Nasheed has her priorities misplaced. She is an elected representative of Missourians and her actions should be in accord with her constituents. Kaepernick is simply an overpaid, third-string quarterback and because of his patriotic antics now enjoys first-string attention.

Ms. Nasheed, Kaepernick and the many others who have taken this path need remember the sacrifice men and women paid for them to have the right to take these actions. This proud, patriotic old American doesn't believe they deserve the time of day.
