Proposition B is about much more than just protecting puppies. It's disturbing that Proposition B redefines the term "pet" as "any domesticated animal normally maintained in or near the household of the owner thereof." This definition opens the door for radical animal rights groups to apply Prop B's harsh regulations to cattle, hog and chicken farming.
HSUS has a history of attacking animal agriculture, so I probably shouldn't be surprised that the vague definition can be found in the legislation it bankrolled with a multimillion dollar ad campaign.
Our state legislators should work to protect the Missouri agriculture industry by fixing the many dangerous problems presented by Prop B's vaguely worded provisions.
