Filing for office

Filing has begun for municipal and school positions. School boards and most municipalities (Cape Girardeau is an exception, holding elections only in even-numbered years) will elect board members, council members, aldermen and, in some cases, mayors.

Filing for city and school posts ends Jan. 20 for elections to be held in April. Anyone interested in participating in this process is encouraged to file.

To place your name on a ballot is a big step. And because running for office is such a major undertaking, hats off to each and every person who chooses to become a candidate. Thank you for your willingness to serve.
