Major League Baseball's World Series is referred to as the Fall Classic, and it would be wonderful to see the Cardinals back in the series. But there's something else this time of year that is classic -- classically beautiful. Leaves are turning brilliant colors, and combined with gorgeous sunshine and pleasant temperatures now is the time to enjoy some time outside...

Leaves are turning brilliant colors, and combined with gorgeous sunshine and pleasant temperatures now is the time to enjoy some time outside.

* White Oak Trace, near the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center at 2289 County Park Drive.

* Castor River Shut-Ins, east of Fredericktown, Mo., on County Road 208.

* Mill Stream Gardens Conservation Area, west of Fredericktown on Highway 72.

* Trail of Tears State Park, located at 429 Moccasin Springs Road in Jackson.

* Knob Lick Towersite, 10 miles south of Farmington on Highway 67; west on Canterberry County Road for a quarter of a mile; northwest on Knob Lick Tower Road.

* Shawnee National Forest.
