Locally the surest sign of summer's end and fall's beginning is the SEMO District Fair. With more moderate temperatures in the early forecast, fair week should once again be an enjoyable experience for all.

Organizers are already setting up for the weekend opening. Saturday the gates open at 8 a.m., and the fair officially kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a free Antique Tractor Pull at the grandstand.

Fairgoers this year can expect many of the staples, including traditional fair food and rides. And Monday's annual parade, which organizers say will have 125 entries, should be a big hit.
