It's not a busy Election Day for most of our Southeast Missouri coverage area, but voters in a couple areas will go to the polls to decide on two issues.
Voters in the Altenburg School District will choose whether to approve a property-tax increase. Under the measure, the tax levy would increase from 3.6 cents to 4.3 cents per $100 of assessed property value. The $1.9 million raised by the increase would go toward a new building for kindergarten through eighth grade.
Delta residents will decide whether to spend up to $1 million in bonds for sewer and water system improvements. Revenue from water and sewer bills would pay for bonds, operation and maintenance costs.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
