An interesting trend during the 1990s, both nationwide and locally, is the growth of thriving Christian schools. This positive movement continues, gathering force in Missouri and across the country, as more and more parents choose what the public schools can't provide: a God-centered educational curriculum featuring Judeo-Christian principles.
One such school in Cape Girardeau County that has seemingly grown from nowhere over the last decade or so is the Eagle Ridge Christian School. Eagle Ridge, originally named the Christian Faith Academy, was opened in 1982 in Scott City. It was moved in 1994 to Cape Girardeau, and enrollment has increased steadily. The current enrollment, at 205, is up 40 since last year, but still well short of the overall capacity of 300. After three years in the new, $1 million building, officials are looking at the possibility of expansion, having reached maximum capacity in certain elementary grade levels.
Further good news came last month when the school received news that they had been fully accredited from the International Christian Accrediting Process. Here's to the good folks at Eagle Ridge.
