To the editor:On Sept. 16 the River City Rodders in conjunction with Old Town Cape hosted its 30th annual car show. After having the show in Capaha Park for the last 10 or more years, the show was moved to downtown Cape Girardeau this year in order to take advantage of the various attractions and amenities that downtown has to offer and to help promote our downtown community.

The response and turnout of both cars and spectators exceeded our expectations. There were over 220 cars registered, and the area was packed with spectators for most of the day. A large number of cars traveled from the St. Louis area this year, with many of the owners coming down on Saturday to shop, dine and do some sightseeing. The feedback regarding the show and particularly our new location was overwhelmingly positive.

The River City Rodders would like to thank all of the corporate sponsors for financial assistance. We would like to thank the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Old Town Cape for manpower and logistical assistance, and the local media for getting the word out. Finally, we would like to thank all of the car owners and the spectators who attended our show this year and helped make it a tremendous success. We plan on being back next year at the same location on the second Sunday in September and promise to make our show bigger and better than ever.
