To the editor: Thank you for Scott Moyer's article regarding transplants. Jim Hormann is my cousin. He is one of the most talented, kind young men I have ever known. He is a hard worker and dedicated husband and father. I am sorry that our blood types don't match so I could have pursued becoming a kidney donor for him. Our entire family has signed our driver's licenses to be organ donors, but that doesn't help Jim at the moment...

Jim is a real, live person, not just a statistic. He is a computer genius, loves his motorcycle and boating and has worked in the private sector in the United States and Japan in the computer field. He is articulate, funny and athletic. Now he just sits. This bright, shining, happy dad needs some kind donor's help to continue not only with his family and career, but to remain alive. Jim and Annette had to leave our family gathering on Christmas eve to go to the hospital for his dialysis. Thankfully, hospital workers work those days too.

Thank you, Missourian, for getting this message out for donor transplants. The lives you help save could just include Jim's.
