To my astonishment, I read an article in the Southeast Missourian recently one morning about the Wisconsin governor and the public union unrest there. However, I did not see anything in the paper about the senior United States senator from Missouri who has a tax problem over a personally owned airplane.
She recently reimbursed the U.S. Treasury $88,000 for trips on this personally owned plane initially paid for by the taxpayers, including purely campaign-related trips. Furthermore, she failed to pay personal property taxes to St. Louis County from 2007 to 2010 to the tune of $287,000. All this from a senator who has projected an ethical image in Washington, D.C.
It seems to me that this would be of more importance to Missouri voters than some report on the activities in Wisconsin. If you need guidance on finding the story, I would suggest the St. Louis Post Dispatch, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, the Springfield News-Leader and the St. Joseph News Press. Obviously these news outlets found the story newsworthy.
