I believe that they should have made a compromise on the smoking ban.
I agree, as a smoker, that there should not be smoking in restaurants because of children and some adults. I do believe that smoking should still be allowed in bars. Cape Girardeau should have made efforts to please both sides of the vote, like making designated smoking areas in bars with vents instead of trying to ban it all together -- an action that leads people to feel their rights are being taken away from them. I also feel that it should be the business owner's choice to make his or her establishment smoking or non-smoking, and that owners should not be forced to do so, because that is taking away someone's rights.
If the people of Cape Girardeau would come together and compromise on the situation we could make both sides of the vote happy.
