Civil liberties have allowed nation to endure

To the editor:

Well now, let me see. Who were our first civil libertarians? Could they have been people like our Founding Fathers? I am tired of you Democrats and you Republicans eating away the basic liberties of our great country. One of the main reasons this country has endured for over 225 years is because of things like civil liberties. The Speak Out caller who said Janet Reno had a "corrupt view of the law" was right. By the same token, John Ashcroft is equally as bad in my view. Now that I think about it, let's get rid of Morley Swingle too. And to you George Bush lovers, what's with this new, bigger government? A new Cabinet post seems to be the most ignorant thing any Republican has done in decades.

Yes, the terrorists may have won after all.
