Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now our attention turns to Christmas and the many light displays.
The 19th annual Parade of Lights, sponsored by Christmas in Old Town Cape, will begin at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday and have more than 100 entries, including high school marching bands from Oran, Bell City, Egyptian and Notre Dame.
The parade, themed "Christmas Dreams," begins at Capaha Park and ends at Main and Merriwether streets near Hutson's Fine Furniture.
The annual parade is always a hallmark for the Christmas season in Cape Girardeau. Local churches, organizations and individuals do an outstanding job at decorating their entries.
Santa Claus, the last entry in the parade, is always a favorite of many spectators.
If you can't wait until Sunday to enjoy the Christmas lights, check out Hutson's Fine Furniture holiday window display. The Hutson's employees do a festive job in preparing the annual display.
The Cape Girardeau County Park Holiday of Lights display is also now open and will continue until Jan. 1. This driving tour is always a display of the sponsors' creativity and dedication.
Enjoy the Christmas season. The lights are on.
