CHAMBER SUPPORT IS STRONG

The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce is a pretty popular organization. It has more than doubled its membership in the last 25 years. The organization deserves a pat on the back for its most recent membership drive, which netted 61 new members. Membership now stands at an impressive 1,211. In 1971, the membership was 577.

These numbers earn Cape Girardeau the distinction of having the third largest chamber in the state. Only the Greater Kansas City and Springfield chambers are bigger. That means Cape Girardeau's chamber is outperforming many larger cities in terms of membership per population.

The success of membership speaks well for the chamber programs and offerings. Savvy business owners and managers wouldn't pay the price of membership unless they received something valuable in return.
