The Central Tiger softball team would like to extend an invitation for everyone to attend our Pink Out game Oct. 1. We are trying to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. Donations are welcomed, and the money raised stays in Cape Girardeau County to help those that we know and love affected by the disease.
In addition, this day will also be our alumni game as part of Central's centennial celebration. Despite its hasty formation, the girls' softball team overcame many odds and established themselves as a highly competitive team in 1978. We will honor past and present softball players throughout Central's history before the game.
We would love it if the alumni wore orange and black or any softball apparel they own. There is also a cookout after the game, and everyone is invited to stay and eat.
Central softball has an important place in my heart. I look forward to playing and practicing every day with my team. Being an athlete is more than winning a game. It's the drive that keeps you going even when the going gets tough. It's putting your heart, soul and mind into every play. Even though it's not always easy, it's rewarding and worth the struggle, and I think former Central softball players will agree. Please come to the centennial celebration game and support breast cancer awareness in the process.
