CAPE'S NEW VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IS TAKING SHAPE WITH CONSTRUCTION 20 PERCENT COMPLETED

Cape Girardeau's new vocational school is fast becoming a reality. Kiefner Construction Co., the general contractor, estimates the project is nearly 20 percent completed. If you're driving by on Interstate 55, you can see the steel framework.

The new school is under construction west of Kingshighway and Southern Expressway along a gravel section of Silver Springs Road. As the construction project moves along, the city will need to extend paved roads and other necessary infrastructure.

This state-of-the-art educational center will allow the district to step up its high-tech vocational training for the entire region.

Classes are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2001. With cooperative weather and careful oversight, the district expects to meet this construction target.
