Cape's attractions draw visitors

Thanks for the nice article by Carrie Bartholomew on the new interpretive enhancements at Fort D. During limited open hours over the Memorial Day weekend we had more than 200 visitors to the fort. These folks came from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, Colorado, Georgia and Michigan. Some were in the area for family reunions. Some were taking day trips from as much as 150 miles away. And still others chose Cape Girardeau as their vacation destination. Many of them also visited the riverfront and spoke glowingly of the beautiful and clean downtown area.

It just goes to show that having a city with a multitude of historic and family attractions makes for a vacation destination for everyone.
