Cape teachers thanked for giving such a good start

To the editor:

My son, John E. Hill, attended Franklin Elementary School and Schultz Middle School in Cape Girardeau through the seventh grade. At that time we moved to Florida, and he is graduating this year from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville. He has been named the valedictorian of his class and is student body president and National Honor Society vice president. He has been accepted to the honors program at the University of North Florida.

I am sending this to commend the Cape Girardeau teachers who started him on his educational path. His grandparents, Bill and Mable Shrum, still live in Cape Girardeau, and I am a 1974 graduate of Central High School.
