To the editor: In response to a Speak Out comment: The caller who was critical of "a smoking area for teachers" in the schools seemed to imply that this was occurring in the Cape Girardeau School District. All schools in the district have had a "no smoking on campus" policy for everyone for at least the past 8 to 10 years. ...

In response to a Speak Out comment: The caller who was critical of "a smoking area for teachers" in the schools seemed to imply that this was occurring in the Cape Girardeau School District. All schools in the district have had a "no smoking on campus" policy for everyone for at least the past 8 to 10 years. This applies to students, teachers and visitors anywhere on any campus or in any building. This is also is announced to fans when games are played at Houck Stadium. This has been a good policy as it has resulted in the large number of teachers and other employees who used to smoke dropping to a very small percentage.
