Comic and gaming fans will find themselves right at home in Cape Girardeau this weekend for the 11th annual Cape Comic Con.
The con opens Friday night and continues through Sunday. The event will take place at the Osage Center, but in anticipation of breaking the attendance record, Cape Comic Con organizer Ken Murphy has expanded the con to other venues, as well, including Port Cape Girardeau and the Arena Building.
This year's featured guests will include comic writer and illustrator Brian Koschak, writer/publisher Brian K. Morris, wrestlers Bob Orton and Terry Funk, Eisner Award-winning comic-book artists Rick Burchett, "The Walking Dead" actor Santiago Cirilo and steampunk costumer/cosplayer Toni Globis.
Cape Comic Con is a great event because there's a little something for everyone. In addition to the guest appearances, this year attendees can enjoy an art workshop, trivia night, vendors, a constume contest and party and a wrestling event, to name a few. It's a chance to bask in some pop culture while learning about and appreciating an art style that gets less play in galleries than more classical styles.
This weekend, take some time out to attend Cape Comic Con. Regardless of whether it's your first time or your 11th time attending, it will undoubtedly be a fun time.
