Cairo must wake up before it's too late

In response to the editorial "Leaderless Cairo": Your editorial is accurate in explaining the utter chaos in Cairo, Ill. I am a former Cairoite and graduated from Cairo High School in 1960. I have watched with disbelief, sorrow and now shame the demise of a beautiful, vibrant, historic and wonderful town. The saddest part is that people who say they love Cairo are destroying it and taking the taxpayers' money along for the sad ride. I hope they wake up before it is too late.
