To the editor:
As a consumer, I would like to respond to the Jan. 31 letter submitted by a spokesperson for the cable-TV industry. It should come as no surprise that the cable companies want to delay competition and are using scare tactics to hold on to their captive video customers. The entrenched cable companies hope to protect their monopolies by discouraging competition, innovation and consumer choice. Any legislator who is striving to bring competition to the cable industry should be applauded. As a consumer, I know that prices and services improve if we have a choice. This issue should be about the consumer, plain and simple.
