To the editor:
Is anyone else as appalled as I am at what I saw on the front page of the Oct. 5 Southeast Missourian? I am referring to the picture of the Central High School cheerleaders preparing to burn a Jackson cheerleader in effigy. I didn't think anyone did such archaic things anymore except for Mideast terrorist types.
After what we have all been through this past month, I feel this action was tactless.
A few days ago, someone called Speak Out to comment on what a great paper the Missourian was and how it had done such a great job of bringing us up to date on the news regarding the terrorist attacks. The caller said the newspaper had helped us see the good things happening here. I say shame on you for being so insensitive by putting such a picture smack dab on the front page. Please think carefully before doing this again.
