The Shawneee District of the Boy Scouts of America will hold a new event tonight called the "Good Scout Recognition Dinner."
The dinner, which is planned to become an annual affair, aims to increase community awareness and involvement, raise funds and honor significant community leaders. The first-ever recipient of this new award will be the late Dr. James A Kinder, Jr. and his family.
Kinder and his sons Frank, James III, Mark and Peter all received the achievement of Eagle Scout, as did several of his grandsons. Dr. James Kinder, Jr., died in 2000. He was well-respected and a pillar of the community.
If you're interested in attending, it's not too late. A table of eight may be purchased for $1,000 or individuals many attend for $125 each. You may pay at the door or call 335-3346 for more information.
We encourage you to consider attending or supporting the Scouts.
