Blasts from across the river

A comment was made in Speak Out about people feeling the blasting at the quarry at Neelys Landing. To set the record straight, the quarry at Neelys Landing has a policy in force that states it will not blast before 12:30 p.m. With the current economic situation, we have been blasting less than once a week, more like once a month, and always in the afternoon.

The frequent blasting that is heard and felt in this area comes from the explosives plant across the river in Wolf Lake, Ill. If you are offended by this frequent blasting, send your comments to Dyno Nobel Inc. in Wolf Lake.
