My first spring in Cape Girardeau, having moved back home after living in New York City for 35 years, I was encouraged by all music theater fans to see the annual Central Junior High School's musical production. I had to see what all the buzz was about. I was in fact a bit shocked to see and hear such a top-notch production from youngsters. To say that their teacher Mike Dumey has a passion for the art form is an understatement. But most importantly he loves sharing that with all of his students. He is creating more wonderful music memories for them than even their parents can ever know.

I so enjoyed that first show that I have returned every year to see these productions. Last night I saw this year's "Cinderella." It again was wonderful in every way. What Mike can get from everyone involved is nothing short of amazing. He is a treasure to each of his students, and they truly value him. Therefore, he is a treasure to this entire community of theatergoers and everyone who values our children and our next generation of audiences.

In these past four years, several of Mike's students have gone on to become theater majors at Southeast Missouri State University. Thank you to all involved in helping Mike Dumey make such a difference in all of our lives, but especially to the lives of his students, past, present and future. Congratulations to all who were a part of "Cinderella."
