To the editor: Earth to letter writer Emma Franklin regarding squandered opportunities by the Bush administration: $35 million of U.S. tsunami aid was the first installment. The administration has since requested $950 million in tsunami aid. Is that enough? If not, what is Franklin doing about the shortage?...

Earth to letter writer Emma Franklin regarding squandered opportunities by the Bush administration: $35 million of U.S. tsunami aid was the first installment. The administration has since requested $950 million in tsunami aid. Is that enough? If not, what is Franklin doing about the shortage?

President Bush recently sent his father and former president Clinton to the tsunami area to assess what more might be needed. Clinton turned the trip into a segment of his book tour.

It appears the ivory tower may be devoid of any instruments to provide current news. However, there seems no lack of irrational hatred of this president and this country. Franklin and the rest of her group need to get over it. Bush won re-election, and most of us are real happy about that.
