If you're looking for something fun and different to do this weekend, we'd like to call your attention once again to the First-Ever Tenth Annual Louis J. Lorimier Memorial World-Famous Downtown Golf Tournament and All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Buffet in Cape Girardeau.
It happens Sunday, and tee time is at 1 p.m. at the Common Pleas Courthouse Park gazebo near Broadway and Lorimier Street.
What makes this event unique is how nine holes are scattered throughout the historic downtown area, taking participants down winding alleyways and around iconic buildings. Plus, those odd-shaped BirdieBalls that resemble napkin rings can confound even the slickest golfers, making for a challenge as well as a laugh.
Besides, the catfish dinner at 3 p.m. in Port Cape's Yacht Club is reason enough to play, if you're not really into the game itself.
All ages are invited to participate, and the first 100 registrants will receive a tournament T-shirt.
Entry forms are available online at cityofcapegirardeau.org/Parks/Red-House-Interpretive-Center.aspx or from the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department.
All proceeds benefit the Red House Interpretive Center.
