In this campaign both major party candidates proclaim we need jobs. Of the four candidates, I'm the only candidate who has worked in the private sector in the 8th District as a self-employed entrepreneur. Over the last 17 years, the enterprises my wife and I have tackled included buying houses with our own money and selling them or renting them out. Our initiative, creativity and hard work helped improve local employment.
While we may not be "big fish" to any of these job creators, we did do business with four lumber yards, five title companies, four hardware stores, ten real estate companies, three surveying companies, several roofing and siding contractors and other employers in the 8th District.
I am aware of the challenges small businesses face with market changes, attaining bank financing, controlling cash flow and working around ever-evolving government interference. I have been involved in getting government permits, buying foreclosed homes, collecting revenue and tax issues specific to employers.
People with real life experience in economics are needed in Washington. Our effort is your opportunity to send a real job creator to Congress.
Lt. Col. Larry Bill, USAF (Retired), independent candidate for Congress, 8th District, Missouri.
