I worked in the office building at 1221 Broadway 25 years, moving in when it was built in 1967. I cannot understand destroying such a beautiful building. Instead of tearing down a good office building, the Rev. Larry Rice could use it for the homeless.

I do not like the university parking lot on Broadway. There could not be enough landscaping done to make it look good.

I realize my thinking is in the past. I'm old enough that I can remember streetcars on Broadway.

What I would really like to see come down are the Broadway and Esquire theaters. What eyesores they are.

Nothing I write is going to make any difference, but I wanted to let the university, hospital and city know my feelings.

I was born at 1015 Harmony St. 82 years ago. At the time, that was the end of town.

No matter what happens, I still love Cape Girardeau. I am so glad my Grandpa Busch and Grandpa Oberbeck came to the U.S. from Germany as young boys. Their families settled here.

Traveling a lot years ago, I was always glad to see the Cape Girardeau bridge, knowing I would soon be home.
